Dorset Marble Quarry
Just down the road from Manchester is the famous Dorset Marble Quarry. The Quarry has long been abandoned for mining marble, and is now a favorite swimming and sunning spot for locals and visitors alike. The spring-fed quarry features beautiful marble walls, with some just a foot above the water, and others reaching heights above the water that make jumping and diving a matter of summing up some formidable courage.
Green Mountain National Forest and Vermont State Parks
The Green Mountain National Forest offers a wide variety of outdoor options to visitors in the Manchester, Vermont area. The famous “Long Trail” runs through this part of the Forest, and many wonderful day and overnight hikes are at your fingertips. Manchester Antique and Classic Car Show
An annual event for decades, the Manchester Antique and Classic Car Show pays tribute to some of the finest automobiles in history. The weekend long event is full of live entertainment, local history and fun for the whole family. The Manchester Car Show also features the Land Rover Driving Experience, a must do for any driving enthusiast.
There’s always something happening at Stratton Mountain. Just 20 minutes from the center of town, Stratton is a world-class ski area with challenges for all levels and abilities. There are a wide variety of on and off mountain accomodations, a sprawling but quaint village at it’s main base, and several alternative lodges and gathering areas around the mountain. Winter brings skiing and riding, parties and races, snowshoe hikes, snowmobile tours, tubing and even fireworks. Summer and fall includes live music in the Village, festivals and a plethora of outdoor activites – including hiking, biking, kayaking, golf and tennis.
